Sometimes when one purchases an item of clothing for their work wardrobe it’s hard to see past wearing it anywhere else except to the office. Purchasing great basic wardrobe items can go a long way in expanding one’s closet from the office to the weekend. I’m am currently loving J. Crew’s silk shirts. (I might have a few!) Besides the great colors, they are so versatile and can be worn many ways. What started as a great shirt to wear to the office will also look great for date night and a weekend brunch with the girls.
Happy Wednesday!

It’s finally Friday loves, and that means we get to talk about one of my favorite subjects….Shoes! It’s amazing how easy it is for me to get sidetracked online with all of the beautiful options there are to see and shop. This week it seems I have especially been loving wedges. They just scream summer: BBQs, brunch with the girls, capris and sundresses. Here are a few of my favorites I have been lusting over this week. Have a wonderful weekend loveies.

For spring 2012 designers are inspired by diverse influences, showcasing a range of styles and lifestyles — from free and playful to light and breezy, and contemporary classics. Colors likewise reflect these differing moods, encapsulating vivid bright, soft muted tones and fun-loving pastels.
We look to spring for renewed energy, optimism and the promise of a brighter day. We have learned how color can help alter a mood, while providing the vitality and enthusiasm that enables us to experiment with new lifestyle and color combinations.

So yesterday I shared all of my favorite boutiques I found while shopping around Austin during SXSW. As we all know, shopping can build up a healthy appetite and thankfully there were plenty of amazing places to eat when I felt the urge. Check out which places my list of the “Top Restaurants to Dine at While in Austin.”
Library Lounge at the W Hotel in Austin
Hopdoddy is the place to go when you are craving a burger. They have a classic burger to make anyone happy but it doesn’t stop there…their Greek burger was one of my favorites. Another perk is that they make their hand-cut fries fresh, yummy. No matter what time of day you show up there is always a line but it goes fast and they are great about finding you a place to sit and eat. 1400 South Congress Avenue
South Congress Cafe reminds me many of the many delicious restaurants in San Francisco. The menu is not extensive but what they do, they do well. The ladies from Bergdorf had gone for brunch one day and said how amazing it was. I didn’t make brunch but had an early dinner one evening and it was heavenly. I ordered the pork chops and the only thing I left on the plate was the bone! 1600 South Congress Avenue
La Condesa was amazing. They had an amazing guacamole tasting that is a must. I didn’t know there could be so many options. The tacos just melt in your mouth, and are beyond delicious. You must check this place out next time you are in Austin. 400 West 2nd Street
Library Lounge at W Hotel served as a great workspace for me when I was downtown, everyday! They serve food from Trace which is the restaurant that’s connected to the W Hotel and delicious. What I especially loved was the modern Moroccan decor. 200 Lavaca Street
Barley Swine was hands down my favorite restaurant in all Austin. Neiman Marcus was kind enough to host a private dinner there during SXSW which I attended. I think we had eight courses in total. Each time they put a new course in front of us I couldn’t image it would be better than the one we just enjoyed, but each time I was pleasantly surprised. The meal was beyond delicious and I can’t wait to come back to Austin just to go to Barley Swine again. It’s a bit off the beaten path as it’s not downtown but so worth the extra cab fare as I promise it will not disappoint. 2024 S. Lamar Blvd.
Mrs. P’s Electric Cock because when you are in the South you have to have fried chicken and waffles. Anytime I am in the South I never pass up an opportunity for fried chicken…actually I’ll hunt it out. This restaurant has outside seating and all of the yummy goodness is made and served out of a silver trailer. It has such a fun ambiance while the food is delicious. 1101 South Congress Avenue

While in Austin for SXSW I managed to make some free time to walk around and check out what the city had to offer. There was so much to see and take in, but somehow I managed. Here is a guide of some of the shops I checked out while in Austin…some of the places even got multiple visits!
South Congress Avenue:
This street really embodies the city’s moto of “Keep Austin Weird.” Along this street there are many stores unique to Austin with a fun, retro vibe.
Uncommon Objects is that store where you will find that perfect, unique object to complete your home decor. It’s a vintage shop meets general store that has everything you could possible want for your home decor and so much more. The store is made up of amazing collectables where it is so easy to lose track of time. Where else can you find vintage apothecary jars and a Chinese sewing cabinet displayed side-by-side? Make sure to allow for extra time when visiting this shop. 1512 South Congress Avenue
Co Star is the shop where both you and your man will walk out happy. It is a well curated boutique that had a great selection for women as well as men. The store carries a vast selection of jeans and t-shirts from colorful skinnies to classic boot-cuts. They also carry cute sundresses, Rebecca Minkoff handbags, and edgy jewelry. It’s worth a stop next time you are in Austin. 1708 South Congress Avenue
By George is Austin’s version of Fred Segal or Jeffery in NYC. They have two locations, one on South Congress and their flagship store in downtown Austin on Lamar. The South Congress store carries more casual lines and jeans. Their downtown store carries high end designers such as Givenchy, Celine, Stella McCartney and the list goes on and on as well as a men’s shop. I visited both of these locations numerous times while in Austin as the selection was amazing and I could not get enough. The sales staff at both locations are so sweet and helpful. Both locations are a must shop when in Austin. 524 North Lamar & 1400 South Congress Avenue
Big Top Candy Shop is like traveling back in time when candy did not cause cavities or have any calories. It’s the perfect mix of kitsch and nostalgia while housing an enormous amount of every type of candy you could possibly want. Because we all have a sweet tooth, it’s a must. 1706 South Congress Avenue
Allens Boots is a must when in Texas. Everyone should own a pair of cowboy boots at some point in their lives. Whether it’s your first pair or not, Allens has an incredible selection of boots for everyone on your list. I surprised my lil’ one with a pair of bright red boots when I got home…she’s hasn’t taken them off yet. 1522 South Congress Avenue
Downtown Austin:
Mercury Design Shop is that perfect shop where you can find everything. Luxurious gifts, amazing coffee table books, revamped vintage pieces, eclectic furniture and home decor. I fell in love as soon as I walked through the door and had a hard time leaving. There was so much to see and I wanted to take home one of everything. There are gorgeous vignettes throughout the store that exude luxury and style. 209 West Second Street
Luxe Apothetique is a little mix of everything. I initially was drawn to the store by their fun window displays of colorful dresses. They carry a fun mix of designers ranging from Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tracy Reese, Hudson, and Splendid to name a few. Upon walking further into the store I noticed they had an amazing selection of beauty products where I found 3 oz. travel sized bottles of Kerastase shampoo and conditioners. I had never seen the travel size of these products before and my hair was over-joyed as it was not loving the products I was using from the hotel. 201 West Second Street
Prize is a fun, luxury gift and accessory boutique in the heart of downtown. You can find everything from fun Longhorn woven keychains to Alexis von Furstenberg’s luxurious lucite tabletop accessories. The items are well thought out but still have that bit of zany fun Austin is known for. 202 Colorado Street
Dress Shop is a darling boutique located on “The Main Street of Texas.” This shop only sells dresses and amazing accessories. The store concept was created by owner, Leslie Gandy, who believes a dress is the simplest way to look your absolute best for any occasions. Ranging from casual to dressy there is a dress for every event and mood. 315 Congress Avenue
Happy Monday, make sure to check back tomorrow for my favorite places to dine around Austin.

I’m still trying to catch up from SXSW. I can’t believe this week is already done. I’m excited for the weekend but can’t believe how fast this week flew by! Make sure to check in on Monday for my Austin shopping guide…you know I managed to do some damage while I was away!
Me in my Penelope & Coco oxfords.
via Glitter Guide feature photographer: Michelle Drewes
With all of that walking around in Austin, I figured the next pair of my shoes I should tell the story about would be my favorite fuchsia oxfords by Penelope and Coco. They were lifesavers all through SXSW. I discovered the brand last year and just had to order a few pairs of oxfords for my closet. The designer Marisa Spinella is an absolute darling. She started designing the line and wanted to create something for each of her personas. Penelope is the classic, timeless, vintage lover and Coco is bold, complicated and risqué. Isn’t that how we all can be depending on the day?
These oxfords have become a staple in my wardrobe and I get stopped every time I wear them. The color is amazing and they are beyond comfortable. Normally I am either in sky-high heels or cute ballet flats. Oxfords are a new addition to my closet but am now hooked, thanks to Penelope and Coco.
Happy Weekend!

I have been surrounded by technology and everything digital/social media for the past two weeks at SXSW. So I figured what is more fitting for a Workplace Wednesday than some of the iPad cases I am coveting. Looking good on the job doesn’t just stop with your outfit, but what you carry as well! Here are some of my favorite iPad cases.
Happy Wednesday!

I had an amazing time at SXSW last week. There was so much to take in, new technology, music, food, fashion, networking…. I am happy to be home and will be posting all week on all of my fun experiences and new discoveries. I ran into many old friends and finally was able to put a face to the name of others.
Austin was a great backdrop to this conference, though I would recommend booking your hotel as far in advance as you can. This year there were many fashion and luxury brands that attended SXSW to check it out the conference and start planning how they would participate next year. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what these brands come up with. Next year fashion and luxury brands will have a much bigger presence at SXSW. I know I am already looking forward to next year.
Make sure to check in all week for my Austin shopping guide, some favorite new technology I found and much more.

Shooting the photos for ALDO’s “The Other Bag” campaign was a blast. The pictures turned out amazing, but there was so much happening behind the scenes to make it all happen. Being in front of the camera is not something I do often. I am used to styling the model(s) and being one of the ones behind the scenes to create the overall look. After shooting for two full days, I have a new appreciation for models. It’s hard work!
Enjoy scrolling through the final photos. Make sure to scroll to the bottom to check out behind-the-scene shots.
Getting some great shots with the beautiful afternoon light
We decided to highlight the modern Californian lifestyle of the woman on the move for this shoot. Santa Monica was chosen and proved to be the perfect location. There was so much that had to be done before we even started the shoot. Permits had to be obtained so we could shoot all over the city, clothes and accessories pulled and the fridge stocked full of Diet Coke!
We had an amazing backdrop at the Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica.
We consumed at least six cheese plates during our shoot.
We got some great shots around Shangri-la’s pool. Loving the ALDO Rise shoes.
Checking emails and keeping warm in between shots.
As with any shoot, there was a lot of standing around, adjusting the lighting, changing outfits and consuming vast amounts of caffeine.
We even made it to the airport for this shoot
Look at the gorgeous LA backdrop
