Stopping To Smell the Roses

I know, I know…it’s Workplace Wednesday and usually it’s all about fashion for the office. But I thought I’d to do something different today. I decided to take a step back and check in with myself. I have been going a million miles a minute with no stopping in sight. It’s been work, work, work and I realized that I have not been taking great care of myself. I haven’t been eating well or exercising and just constantly on the go. Last week was a wake-up call as I was in bed sick all week, and am still on the mend.

So today when I woke up I decided that I needed to get my morning walks back in place. I walk down by the water and that is the place I get all of my thinking done and just be able to relax. Besides it’s beyond gorgeous.

I’ve missed my walks along the Golden Gate Bridge

There is so much coming up for me in the next few weeks. I will be attending SXSW and speaking on a panel at StyleX in Austin. This will be my first year back at SXSW in many, many years so I am very excited. I also have been working non-stop on Innovation Summit, which will be held on April 14th in Los Angeles. We have an amazing line-up of speakers and it is sure to be a great event.

So I am making sure in all of this craziness to have time for me. I love being able to do what I do, and want to keep enjoying the process. I know so many of you can relate, so take the extra time and make sure you are good. Here are some of the things I’m adding to my list. What’s on your list when you need to take a break?

1. Unplug…get up from the computer, leave your iEverything & go for a walk

2. Set a timer to get certain tasks complete & your To-Do list won’t seem so overwhelming

3. Go for a walk and get outside, enjoy the sunshine

4. Go offline for a day, everything will still be there when you get back

5. Delegate

6. Stop and smell the roses

There is nothing I love better than having friends over and decorating my home for the occasion. I wanted to post this DIY I did a few months ago, when I was inspired to recreate the Confetti System banner for NYE. It was pretty easy and I had all of the material in my home. It was so much fun to make, my guests loved it and I have used it for other events since.

{Workplace Wednesday} The Stylish Office Tote

It’s Wednesday and that means we are heading to the weekend! Do you ever have those days where you just don’t know what to wear to the office and wish you had that magic item to pull it all together? One of the easiest ways to pull and outfit together and update your look is to invest in a great handbag. The great thing about a handbag is that you can easily change it out if you want a different look. Having a great tote for the office is a must. Especially to have a place to put all of your technology and papers away which, makes you look organized and streamlined.

The end of winter can sometimes drag on for what seems like forever and make you think you’ll never get into Spring 2012′s fun trends. But you are a crafty woman, and who ever said the temperature outside has to dictate what you wear? One upcoming trend this is sure to get you out of the dreary winter funk is Bright Colors. I know I am excited of the rainbow of colors this Spring.

By pairing a pleated, bright fuchsia skirt with neutral colored staples, you will easily be able to start incorporating this cherry trend into your work wardrobe. The sun may not be shining but that doesn’t mean you can’t!

Wanderlust and the Luxurious Traveller

I have been having a bit of wanderlust lately, I’m not going to lie. I am working on an amazing luxury travel project that I can’t talk about just yet…but stay tuned. But it makes me want to jump on the next plane to some exotic beach. Traveling for me is all about my luxuries. One luxury for me is getting my sleep on the plane so I look and feel rested when I land.

I am a bit obsessed with this Armand 100% Cashmere eye mask and pillow. The green and pink is the perfect color combo helping you to be on trend for spring. Now the only question is where to go? Good thing I have a long list of places I need to cross off my list.

The wind may blow it’s bitter cold, but it’s never too early to wish for spring. We can’t stop dreaming about the fresh new season trends, so we decided to start incorporating them into our winter work basics. Right now we are obsessed with retro florals, a.k.a., Hawaiian trend.

Bright blue is going to be a hot color trend for Spring 2012. Acne, DKNY and J. Crew were just some of the fashion houses showing this fun color on their runways. As winter is still holding strong for many, it seems that daydreaming of Spring is an act of survival. But who says you have to wait till the weather warms up to start playing with all of the fun Spring Trends? Not me, that’s for sure.

A chic tote for the workplace is always a wise investment. A fun bright blue will add that extra pop to make you almost forget the dullness of winter! Have fun playing with your colors.
