Jeanne Chan, the stylish creator behind Shop Sweet Things sat down with us and shared what’s on her Mother’s Day wish list this year.  Chan has an amazingly discerning eye when it comes to curating her lifestyle blog.  It was no surprise her wish list is just as fabulous as one would expect!

What was your favorite memory from your first mother’s day?
JC:  For my first mother’s day, I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter. Even though she hasn’t quite entered the world yet, the connection I had with her felt very strong. I was really thankful to have a baby girl on the way, and it was just the most amazing feeling to experience being a mother for the very first time.

You have an amazing blog and brand, as well as being a mom and wife…What is your secret to managing it all?

JC: I just think that it’s so important for every woman to step out the role of a mother and be yourself sometimes. It’s so easy to devote all our time to care for the little ones that we forget who we are, the passion that we had, or to live the dreams we want to live. I guess one thing I’ve been trying to do is to develop a business hour for myself (which is very hard to do when you’re working for yourself!) This way, I make sure I carve out time for myself and for the family.

What will be one of your beauty secrets you will share with your daughter?

JC: As much as I love make-up, I would love to have my daughter hold off on that for as long as she can. I still think natural beauty is the way to go. If anything, I would encourage her to take care of her skin by having a good cleansing routine and maintain a clean balanced diet.Describe your personal style.

JC: I think overall, my aesthetic is pretty modern. I love colors and whimsical designs. And lately, I’ve been really drawn to the casual chic look.Shoes or Handbags?

JC: Shoes!What is the best advice your mom ever gave you?

JC: Don’t always depend on your husband’s income. Make your own money, have your own savings, and spend it any way you like it!
