Spring Update:: Easy Bar Cart DIY
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but life + work have been extra busy this year. I’m excited to be able to focus on my site again and look forward to sharing some fun posts with you all. It’s spring time and that always means cleaning and updating in my house. There is something about keeping your home decor fresh and new. Sometimes instead of buying a new piece of furniture, you can update what you already have for a fresh new look. I had this wooden butler’s stand for years and was debating whether to get rid of it or keep. The dark color of it just didn’t fit my house anymore. I decided I would give it a new coat of paint in a simple DIY project.
I decided that I wanted a white tray on top of a shiny gold stand. For the white tray I first spray painted it with Rust-Oleum Satin White. You want to make sure you are holding the can about 12″ away from the tray and spraying thin layers. Let the layer dry and repeat until the tray is completely covered. If you spray the paint on too think you’ll get cracks when the paint drys. After the white paint dried, I used Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover Clear Gloss as I wanted a shiny lacquer feel to the tray. For the stand I used Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish in gold. The final outcome is gorgeous. It has the perfect covering and the perfect amount of sheen.
No bar cart is complete without great glasses, mixers and fun accessories. I added one of my favorite LOVE prints to the cart to highlight the gold. Vintage glasses and a custom ice bucket completed the look.
