Workplace Wednesday:: How to Stylishly Wear Denim at Work

Denim at the workplace is becoming more commonplace as offices are embracing a more casual work attire. But just because you can wear denim to the office doesn’t mean that it’s free license to dress sloppy. Save your distressed boyfriend jeans for the weekend. Jeans may be the obvious choice when you think of denim, but there are other options as well. Adding a fitted denim shirt to your work wardrobe can offer another dress option while still making you look professional. Pair with a lady-like skirt and bright colored shoes and you are ready to tackle any meeting.

Jenna Lyons, Creative Director for J. Crew, wore denim to this years Met Gala with a gorgeous pink skirt. While I think she was able to pull it off, it’s not something I would recommend most people to try when dressing for a formal event. But adding denim pieces to your work wardrobe is a great way to expand your closet.
